[Lustre-discuss] File showing zero length until accessed

All,

We had a user get confused because when he did an 'ls' on a tar file, it showed zero length. He then did a 'tar xzvf' on the file and it extracted everything??
When doing an 'ls' afterwards, it showed the proper size of 1.5GB.

The file is on a lustre 1.87 filesytem. Both client and servers are running the latest rpms for that.

Is this something that could be caused by lustre?
