Well, under Linux, only SPARC64 would work right now because the
implementation of the atomic operations for the 32-bit SPARC
architecture has not been imported from OpenSolaris.

This is pretty easy to add but hard to test without having a 32-bit
SPARC machine.
I have filed bug 15656 for this.
