[Lustre-discuss] Strange lustre behavior after linking hangs

Hi,

I have a users who has been having problems building scalapack; it hangs
during linking.  I can reproduce it.  The trouble is on lustre (where our
homedirs are) the process ends up becoming a zombie (or actually waiting for
IO) and can't be killed by anyone.  On straight up ext3, the process hangs
in the same manner during linking, but can be killed.  Is this a known
issue?  Has it been fixed in a newer version?

We're running patchless client
lustre-modules-1.6.4.3-2.6.9_55.0.2.ELsmp_200803170814.

MDT and OSTs  are running 2.6.9-67.0.4.EL_lustre.1.6.4.3smp.
