Combined with e2fsprogs 1.40.7
(http://mesh.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/e2fsprogs/e2fsprogs-1.40.7.tar.gz)
from sourceforge and e2fslibs-dev (from apt for debian etch),
configured with "--disable-lfsck" it now works as I wanted.
