Brian,

Here are the original, incorrect, mkfs commands:

mkfs.lustre --reformat --fsname bananafs --failnode lustremds2 --mgs 
/dev/sdb
mkfs.lustre --reformat --fsname bananafs --failnode lustremds2 
--mgsnode=lustremds1 --mdt /dev/sdc
