[Lustre-discuss] Compile lustre 1.8.4 errors+centos 5.5

You do not need to run the same version across all your systems. It
should be fine running a mixture of 1.8.4 and 1.8.5. Not sure if your
Centos machine is supposed to be a server or client, but assume client?
(As I would assume the file servers would be on the same OS release.) In
which case it would certainly not be a problem.

We ran 1.8.2 (or so) clients against 1.6.7 servers for quite a while due
to some hardware coming with a kernel that 1.6 could not be compiled
for; and we now have the first 1.8.5 client (runing 1.8.3 servers), for
the same reason.
