You can get client RPMs for Ubuntu 10.04 at from the Whamcloud build server:
http://build.whamcloud.com/job/lustre-b1_8/100/
Unfortunately, we don't have the hardware/resources to test this client.
I don't know what kernel is in Ubuntu 10.10, but it is possible to run "make deb" from a Lustre source checkout to try and build packages for your system.
