[lustre-discuss] Adding MDT to Lustre 2.7

We've done it (in the manner you describe), but we do not do it on live systems, out of an abundance of caution. It's probably fine to do it live, but we always do it during downtime.

So has anyone added DNE to an existing lustre installation?

All,

I want to take advantage of the benefits of multiple MDTs, but am reticent about jumping in with a system with many users that may squeak if there is a hiccup.

I am not seeing any recent (newer than 2013) documentation about how to go about adding an MDT to an existing system.

Is this as simple as formatting a new MDT with an incremented index and mounting it?
