[lustre-discuss] 2.5.1 client on 2.6.32 kernel (RH 6.x) w/OFED 3.18?

Paul,

You should not be constrained on the client and you should not have to match the 2.5.1 version on your Seagate servers. FWIW, their 2.5.1 is modified and not the exact same as the 2.5.1 published by Intel for the community.

    Hi all:

Because of the server version in our Seagate Lustre appliance, we are
constrained to use clients 1.8.9 or 2.5.1. We have some CentOS 6.5
boxes with kernel 2.6.32-431.el6. One of them has Intel's OFED+
installed on it, providing OFED 3.18. The other boxes have the stock
    RHEL-provided IB stack.

I can build the 2.5.1 Lustre client on the stock boxes, but building
fails on the OFED+ box. The failure is the same as reported in
LU-7042, caused by Lustre code appearing in the kernel. I tried to
apply that patch to the 2.5.1 source, but some of the patch content
refers to code which has been rewritten and moved around enough that
only some of the files can take the patch.

Has anyone built the 2.5.1 (or lower) client on RHEL/CentOS 6.x with a
newer OFED such as Intel's OFED+?

Intel TrueScale support said "Seagate and Intel's Lustre code base
merge is later than the 2.5.1 client needed, so Intel can't help with
    this build".

I have a Seagate ticket in, in case they have ideas.
