My apologies – you are correct. I was thinking of the "multiple file systems per MDS" scenario.

Hi,

It appears that In such a case you're still utilizing different targets for your MDT(s) (on the same MDS), that said, I do not know what the ramifications of running multiple MDT's for different file systems against the same MDS would be as I have never attempted such a configuration.

I don't think that's right. We are serving 2 separate file systems with the same MDT. We are using 2.10 with a ZFS backend. Our /etc/ldev.conf looks something like this:

#local foreign/- label [md|zfs:]device-path [journal-path]/- [raidtab]

# primary hpfs-fsl (aka /nobackup) lustre file system
hpfs-fsl-mds0.jsc.nasa.gov<http://hpfs-fsl-mds0.jsc.nasa.gov> hpfs-fsl-mds1.jsc.nasa.gov<http://hpfs-fsl-mds1.jsc.nasa.gov> hpfs-fsl-MDT0000 zfs:metadata/meta-fsl
