[lustre-discuss] LUSTRE - Installation on DEBIAN 10.x ????

I did not try for Debian, but Ubuntu support works quite well.
You should try building from sources and hopefully it will work.
I know some sites in Germany (GSI) which are using Debian for their cluster. So it must work.

Try downloading 2.12.4 sources, then

sh ./autogen.sh
./configure
make debs

    Unfortunately, the guide at http://wiki.debian.org/Lustre is ancient old.  https://wiki.whamcloud.com/display/PUB/Build+Lustre+MASTER+client+on+Debian+10.1.0+from+Git seems to be what you are looking for.
    
    BTW, there is a lot of Ubuntu support out there for Lustre.  LTS Ubuntu is even declared a supported client as you can see here: https://wiki.whamcloud.com/display/PUB/Lustre+Support+Matrix.

        Hi Matthias,
        
        last time we tried this (Debian Wheezy + Lustre 2.5) we had to use the Redhat kernel _in_ Debian.
        However, nowadays there is the patchless-ldiskfs-server, and of course the server based on ZFS, both of which would require only to compile the proper modules.
        My guess is that you have better chances with the newer Lustre versions...
