Assuming you are using ldiskfs without project quotas, is there any reason to use the patched vs patchless server? Does it vary between any particular OS?

Using ldiskfs project quotas on RHEL7 is the difference that most people care about, but this is included in RHEL8 and later.

The only other remaining server patches are if the server storage uses T10-PI with ldiskfs, but that is unlikely for most users.
