Yes, 2.16 clients will work with 2.15.x servers but it is expected that we will release a future 2.15.6 with RHEL 9.5 client support. Support for RHEL 9.5 will be tracked under LU-18387.

Lustre client 2.15.5 does not build.
Lustre client 2.16.0_RC1_14_g2c95e89 (probably also RC2 and RC3), 
build OK.
Lustre server (zfs) 2.16.0_RC1_14_g2c95e89 + zfs-2.2.6, build OK.


I suspect client 2.16 should work with server 2.15?


Have not found any related (Support RHEL 9.5) Jira ticket?
