Hi Shaun
Unfortunately we discovered that our patched master build has some issues with our 2.15 servers.
Seems that we can only read files using direct mode AND block sizes >= 4k, or else the read fails:
~# dd if=/mnt/ubuntu-25.04-desktop-amd64.iso2 of=/dev/zero status=progress
dd: error reading '/mnt/ubuntu-25.04-desktop-amd64.iso2': Invalid argument
8+0 records in
8+0 records out
4096 bytes (4.1 kB, 4.0 KiB) copied, 0.00249708 s, 1.6 MB/s
The issue occurs also building the same master source without patch on a compatible OS (Rocky Linux), so it seems that it's not a problem related with the patch or Debian 13.
perhaps the issue has something to do with https://jira.whamcloud.com/browse/LU-19180 ?
cheers,
Francesco
