Updates for 2.12.x ceased a couple years ago. Support eligibility for 2.12.x may vary between support providers. I don’t know of any issues specific to 2.12.5 but we have not conducted any testing on that specific version since 2.12.6 came out in late 2020. Based on the most recent OpenSFS community survey (results to be announced at LUG tomorrow) you are far from alone in still having 2.12.x running in production. 😊

Thanks for the quick answer.

The exact server version we are running is 2.12.5. Do you see an potential issue running such a server version with clients version 2.15.6?

Furthermore, i would like to know how long will the  2.12.x ( latest x=9) lustre server version be updated/supported ?

You don’t specify which 2.12.x release that you are using but in theory it should be fine to continue to upgrade to newer 2.15.x releases as they are issued – we test interoperability with the latest 2.12.x release as part of the pre-release validation for 2.15.x releases.

We have a server version 2.12  which can interoperate without problem with higher lustre client versions ( up to 2.15.6 at the moment ).

My question is how long can we update the client version on our compute nodes  without having problem with the "old" luster server version 2.12?
