[lustre-discuss] Joining the Fail OST as new OST| Cleaning the data of the fail OST

we have failed ost, unfortunately we could not recover the data. I have a
couple  questions.

1) want to attach the ost back to the lustre file system as a new OST. on
the MDS I have made the ost active to 1 with the command *lctl conf_param
lustre-OST001d.osc.active=1*

Below is the output..
#lctl get_param osc.lustre-OST001c-*.active
osc.lustre-OST001c-osc-MDT0000.active=1
osc.lustre-OST001c-osc-MDT0001.active=1
osc.lustre-OST001c-osc-MDT0002.active=1
 #lctl dl  | grep OST001d
 39 IN osp lustre-OST001d-osc-MDT0000 lustre-MDT0000-mdtlov_UUID 4
 76 IN osp lustre-OST001d-osc-MDT0001 lustre-MDT0001-mdtlov_UUID 4
113 IN osp lustre-OST001d-osc-MDT0002 lustre-MDT0002-mdtlov_UUID 4

Shall I format or reformat the OST with mkfs.lustre with the same index
number or a  different index number?
What will happen to the OST related data on the MDS, as shown in the above
output.? Will it have an impact or not?

2) when we do #ls in the directory we find the ??? marks on some data in
directories. How can we clean them ? Below is the output.
