If you are using the pre-built kernel modules, then you also need to install
the matching kernel and related packages from the same directory:
https://build.whamcloud.com/job/lustre-b2_15/94/arch=x86_64,build_type=server,distro=el8.10,ib_stack=inkernel/artifact/artifacts/RPMS/x86_64/kernel-4.18.0-553.5.1.el8_lustre.x86_64.rpm

It has a couple of bugfixes for issues that are hit by Lustre under load.
