It has eight internal ports so I'm guessing you are using some sort of SAS fan out expander? </div></div></blockquote><div>Correct. We are using a SuperMicro server with 24 drive bays. The server has only one backplane to the disks so sas expenders are used. We use 18 drives (+1 hot spare) for data and 2 (+1 hot spare for journal).<br>
