2.6.9-78 is being worked on in bug 16504 and is targetted for 1.6.7.

You mentioned that you are getting an error in ldiskfs though.  ldiskfs
should not be getting built for a client kernel and configure should
detect whether a client kernel source has been patched for use as a
server or not and disable server (and therefore ldiskfs) building if
not.
