My not-LNET-expert understanding is that IPoIB is only really needed for
addressing of the client nodes, to avoid depending on esoteric IB MAC
addresses (that may change with h/w repairs) for identifying clients
and servers.  While the IP address is used to locate the node at mount
time, the entire communication is done with native IB protocol.
