[Lustre-discuss] mounting an ost on a different server

The easy way would have been to configure the devices for failover when 
you did the mkfs: that would have
set up the nodes to know where else to look if the primary server was 
down (just "mount" the devices on the
secondary server and it all 'just works').

Setting up a failover server now, you would have to run a bunch of 
tunefs commands to add the failover parameters,
and remount Lustre on all the nodes (servers and clients).


Alternatively, you can have the temporary fileserver assume the name and 
IP addresses of the server you are taking
off line -- so Lustre never "knows" the server was replaced (will look 
like it was rebooted).
