[lustre-discuss] MDT has flags as OST

Ben,

I am certain on the scsi_ids. I am using an LVM that is multipathed over IB/SRP
The disk is only 500GB.
I have mounted it as ldiskfs and compared it to an OST.
It seems to look like an OST with extra stuff there. In the CONFIGS, it has both an MDT and an OST file.
I wonder if this is from running lfsck_start on it earlier when the system was up.

I can come up with some unlikely ideas, but it would depend on how your system is set up.

The simplest check would be to mount the suspect device as ldiskfs and take a look at what the directory structure inside looks like (does it have file names like a regular FS (MDT), or a bunch of numbered/lettered directories (OST))

If your server is running both an MDT and an OST, use scsi_id to make sure that the devices you think are MDTs and OSTs aren't actually the same device.

All,

Not sure how this is even possible, but our MDT is showing up as an OST when I do 'tunef2.lustre'

Is there a way to change the flags for a disk so it will see it as an MDT again?
