Perhaps a naive question on the same topic; is it possible to mix and match ldiskfs and zfs targets on a Lustre server? Like, having mdt on ext4 and osts on zfs?

ZFS is functional in all version of Lustre since Lustre 2.4.    If you have a Lustre version from the last few years  you can deploy ZFS OST.

Does the ZFS volume support in Community edition of Lustre from Intel. actually in intel doc it seem bit unclear.
